Abstract

Quokka3 has grown substantially over the past one to two years, broadening its physics while keeping the speed of its skin-concept approach. This talk gives a high-level tour of what's new: matured c-Si tandem modelling (now including three-terminal cells, luminescent coupling and a radiative-limit top-cell option), a dedicated simplified syntax for IBC cells, mobile-ion and perovskite capability via a strengthened 1D drift-diffusion solver, and a more robust core solver that now handles 0 V and reverse bias. The talk closes with a brief look at the roadmap.

Brief Bio

Andreas Fell is the developer of Quokka3 and the author of the Quokka simulators. He completed his PhD at Fraunhofer ISE on laser processes for silicon solar cells, then worked at the Australian National University from 2011 to 2015, where he created the original Quokka. He held a Marie-Skłodowska-Curie fellowship dedicated to Quokka3, now marketed via his own business, while keeping a part-time senior-scientist role at Fraunhofer ISE, focused on silicon and silicon-based tandem cells. His work on solar-cell modelling spans more than 150 peer-reviewed publications, and over the past decade Quokka has become a standard simulation tool across much of the silicon PV industry and research community.
