Abstract
There are a large number of solar cell manufacturing companies involved in the UNSW Advanced Hydrogenation Technology where hydrogen is introduced into the solar cell in order to eliminate defects and other forms of recombination.
Controlling the charge state of introduced hydrogen within the silicon solar cell is key to being able to eliminate defects and thus allow manufactures to use lower grade, less expensive, silicon to make high performance solar cells. Additionally, solar cells that have been treated with controlled charge state hydrogen generate significantly more energy throughout their lifetime because of the minimisation of degradation processes.

Brief Bio
Professor Stuart Wenham is the director of the Australian Research Council's Photovoltaics Centre of Excellence at the School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering at the University of New South Wales.
Professor Wenham has 192 refereed papers in scientific and technical journals, 86 refereed conference papers, 5 books, CD-ROMs and book chapters and 26 separate patents/patent applications.
