Dr Zhengrong Shi (59min)
Dr Zhengrong Shi is an alumnus of UNSW and is the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Suntech Power. His presentation was to the staff and students of the UNSW School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering on 15 December 2010.
Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd., is the world’s largest producer of photovoltaic (PV) panels. The founder and CEO of Suntech, Dr Zhengrong Shi, completed his PhD at the University of New South Wales, Australia under the expertise of Prof. Martin A. Green -- a well-known world leader in PV technology. Dr Shi has worked in many solar research positions, including Deputy Research Director in Pacific Solar Pty., Ltd. (now CSG Solar), and alone holds more than 10 patents for innovations in solar technology. With Dr. Shi at the helm, Suntech is a world leader in crystalline silicon solar cell technology.
