Abstract

Despite the enormous growth of solar PV production and the equally eye catching reduction in costs, solar PV accounts for only a small fraction of the world's electricity consumption. However its been very damaging to the profitability of the utility industry. The scale of the challenge required to move PV from a value destroyer to a longer term foundation of global electricity supply remains almost as large as ever.
